Thank you to all the Hyundai owners who came out this weekend to take advantage of the free anti-theft software upgrade event. According to Hyundai, our 3-day event had the highest attendance of the 17 events they have hosted nationwide. Between the Tacoma Dome and the Factoria Mall, Hyundai techs upgraded the software on 1,034 vehicles! They estimate that another 50 – 75 vehicles were upgraded at the two dealerships.
Our task force members spoke to each vehicle owner at the Tacoma Dome, provided them with a brochure on auto theft prevention, and handed out stickers to the littles. Bellevue Police officers also provided our brochures to Hyundai owners at the Factoria Mall.
Please remember that even with the software upgrade, visual deterrents like steering wheel locks are still important. Car thieves will see these BEFORE they break your window and MOST (not all) will move on.
