#1 Double Motor Vehicle Fatality – Spanaway
On June 19th, around 8:30 pm, a Dodge Charger was traveling at a high rate of speed in the 400 block of Military Rd E, in Spanaway, when it attempted to avoid colliding with a man mowing his front lawn.
The vehicle attempted to correct itself and left the roadway, striking a tree and splitting the Charger in half. The 48-year-old male driver and a 37-year-old female back passenger were deceased on the scene. Another 53-year-old female front passenger was transported to a local hospital in life-threatening condition. There were numerous empty alcohol containers in the wreckage. It is believed alcohol was a factor in this collision.
#2 Man Attempts to Enter Apartments with Pants Down
This second call occurred on June 21st around 9:45 pm when multiple residents from an apartment complex at the 11000 block of Waller Rd E called to report a man was attempting to enter their apartments and exposing and touching himself with no pants on. Video surveillance shows the man attempting to enter an apartment completely exposed while a mother and her daughter were home. Probable cause was established for the man’s arrest. The 32-year-old male was contacted at his apartment and arrested for multiple counts of indecent exposure.
#3 How Not to Avoid a DUI Arrest – Drive Right Up to Deputies
This last call occurred on June 20th around 2:00 am when deputies were investigating a commercial burglary at the 5700 block of 161ST St Ct. E on South Hill. A vehicle suddenly pulls up to them, and deputies investigate to see if it’s related to the burglary. After speaking with the driver for a few seconds, the deputy spots a bottle of Vodka in the center console. The driver then opens the center console, and a gun is seen. This no longer is a burglary investigation and it turns into a DUI Investigation. The 28-year-old female was arrested for DUI, unlawful possession of a firearm, since she was a convicted felon, and obstruction.
