We sadly had another motorcycle fatality along with several serious DUI collisions. As summer comes to a close, these are heavy reminders to stay safe on the roads and not drink and drive.
#1 Motorcycle Fatality Collision
On August 21st around 5:00 pm, deputies were dispatched to a fatal collision involving a motorcycle at 176th St. E and Waller Rd E. Preliminary investigation shows high speed from the motorcycle was a factor in the collision, as a large pickup truck was making a left-hand turn onto Waller Rd E and never saw the motorist. No arrest was made, and this remains an active investigation.
#2 Domestic Violence Warrant Arrest
On August 23rd around 7:30 am, a business complex in the 14900 block of Pacific Ave. S called 911 stating a male was camping in his truck in their parking lot and they had asked the man to leave several times. The man still would not leave, so deputies were called. The man stated he was out of gas and would be able to leave the following day, but things changed direction when the deputy learned the male had a warrant for a domestic violence order protection.
Deputies went to make the arrest, and the man claimed the deputies did not know who he was, stated they couldn’t prove he had a warrant, and refused to step out of the vehicle. After dozens of times telling the man he was under arrest and to step out of the car, the deputies swiftly removed him and took him into custody after breaking two windows of the vehicle. The 44-year-old male was arrested for his warrant and booked into the Pierce County Jail.
