On September 15, just before 11 p.m., deputies were in the 7600 block of East D Street on an unrelated call when they noticed a vehicle pulled off the roadway with two men visibly passed out inside. Something didn’t seem right, so deputies decided to take a closer look.
As they approached the vehicle, deputies could see two men asleep inside, along with large amounts of cash, small clear baggies, a digital scale, and a white powdery substance in plain view and scattered around the vehicle’s center console.
Based on what deputies observed, they believed the items were consistent with the distribution of narcotics. Both men were awakened and taken into custody.
The 37-year-old driver and 33-year-old passenger were booked into the Pierce County Jail for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver.
The vehicle was towed and a search warrant was obtained as part of the ongoing investigation.
