One way to try and prevent capture from deputies is to run into the thickest patch of blackberry bushes you can find. It later turned out to be a really bad idea.
On September 30, 2026, around 10:30 p.m., deputies were called to a home after two roommates got into an altercation and one of the women reportedly threatened the other with a knife. Probable cause was established for felony harassment.
Deputies learned the female had fled out the back door with a male, and they could hear movement and branches breaking in the nearby woods. Deputies set up containment around the wooded area while waiting for K9.
When K9 Clark and his handler arrived, the male immediately announced that he was giving up. There was just one problem…
He couldn’t get out.
The male had managed to make his way deep into a thick patch of blackberry bushes and was unable to get himself back out. After nearly 30 minutes of trying to navigate the sticker bushes, what started as an arrest quickly turned into a rescue operation, and Fire was called in to help.
While deputies and Fire worked on getting the male out, deputies located the female hiding behind a tree not far from where the male was stuck. The 38-year-old woman was taken into custody for felony harassment and vandalism to the home.
Meanwhile, Fire crews came to the rescue. A long ladder was placed across the top of the blackberry bushes, creating a makeshift path that allowed the male to safely get out.
The male was not arrested after deputies later determined there was no probable cause for his arrest.
