#1 DUI Pursuit, Stolen Gun, Drugs, What Could Possibly Go Wrong?
On October 3 around 11 p.m., one of our deputies spotted a vehicle traveling more than 100 mph and running red lights on Canyon Road E. The deputy attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to stop, leading to a pursuit. With the vehicle traveling at dangerous speeds, deputies knew they needed to get it slowed down before someone was seriously hurt.
Stop sticks were successfully deployed, deflating two of the vehicle’s tires. Once the speeds were reduced to a safer level, deputies attempted to box the vehicle in. The driver still wasn’t ready to give up and tried to escape. Rather than let the vehicle get away, a deputy was able to pin it against a curb, bringing the pursuit to an end.
The 38-year-old male driver was arrested, and the vehicle was impounded pending a search warrant. During the search, deputies located a stolen pistol, suspected drugs, and drug paraphernalia.
The suspect is facing charges including:
• Eluding
• Assault in the 2nd Degree
• Reckless Driving
• Unlawful Possession of a Firearm in the 1st Degree
• Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver
• Possession of a Stolen Gun
• DUI
• Driving While License Suspended in the 3rd Degree
#2 Towing Motorhome Disaster
On October 2 around 10 a.m., deputies responded to the QFC parking lot near 112th Street S and Pacific Avenue S for a report of a motorhome that had collided with another vehicle. The motorhome was being towed through the parking lot using a tow strap when the strap broke, causing the motorhome to collide with another vehicle.
The female who was steering the motorhome got out and fled the scene on foot, while the male who had been towing it remained at the scene. The 46-year-old male was arrested for Driving While License Suspended in the 1st Degree and Driving Without a Required Ignition Interlock Device. The investigation remains active as deputies work to identify and locate the female involved in the hit-and-run.
