Over the Weekend 7-21-25

Here are a couple crazy calls that highlight what our deputies had to deal with this last weekend.

#1 Shooting

On July 18th around 10pm, deputies responded to a shooting where a reporting party said a male had been shot in a parking lot at Park Ave S and Lafayette St S in Parkland. Deputies arrived and located the male with a gunshot wound. The deputies immediately began first aid while waiting for Fire. Fire arrived and transported the male to a local hospital. Later, we learned that several people attacked the 40-year-old male in the parking lot and fled the scene. All suspects are still outstanding, and this is an active investigation.

#2 Stolen Vehicle Filled with Juveniles

On July 19th around 4:00am, deputies noticed a vehicle traveling 80 mph in a 35 mph zone with the three occupants wearing ski masks. Deputies attempted a traffic stop at the 11100 block of Pacific Ave. S., and the vehicle pulled into a parking lot. It was no surprise next; the vehicle was stolen, and a felony traffic stop was conducted. The 14-year-old and 15-year-old suspects fled from the vehicle, and multiple foot pursuits were initiated. The driver was taken into custody here. A second passenger was located behind a barbed wire fence and taken into custody. The third passenger remains outstanding. Deputies could see significant damage to the ignition, and the driver was found with screwdrivers in his pocket that were used to steal the car. Both juveniles arrested were transported to Remann Hall Detention Center for theft of a motor vehicle and obstruction. This investigation is still ongoing.
