It was a busy weekend for the Pierce County Sheriff\u2019s Office. Here are just a few calls we responded to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
#1 Search and Rescue Mission at the Fairfax Bridge in Carbonado<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n On March 23rd<\/sup> around 12pm, a woman and her dog both slipped into the Carbon River underneath the Fairfax Bridge. A loved one witnessed her being swept away in the heavy current had attempted to grab her before being swept away. Our SWIFT water rescue and Search and Rescue Rope techs responded to the site. Due to the nature of the rough terrain and a 50 foot canyon, drones were used to do a search down river for the subject and her dog. The dog was located about \u00bc mile downstream alive. Fire responded with more rope techs and the dog was rescued. Due to the weather, terrain, and darkness the search was suspended at 6:13pm. Deputies have continued the search with the use of drones this morning and the search and rescue mission has been moved to a recovery mission. <\/p>\n\n\n\n #2 Vandalism of Chevron Gas Station<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n On March 23rd<\/sup> at around 7:30pm, deputies were dispatched to an assault located at the Chevron gas station at 112th<\/sup> St. E and Canyon Road. Dispatch advised there was a male inside the store who had been fighting employees along with customers and running around the store destroying property. The suspect had been pepper sprayed by an employee and a customer was attempting to hold down the suspect until law enforcement arrival. When deputies arrived, the male appeared to be under the influence and had erratic behaviors. He was sitting on the counter and the business was in disarray. The 23-year-old male suspect was taken into custody and booked into the Pierce County Jail for Assault 4th<\/sup> Degree, Vandalism, Resisting and Interfering with Police and Obstruction. <\/p>\n\n\n\n #3 Library Arson<\/strong> and Endangerment to Life<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n On March 23rd<\/sup> around 2:30pm deputies responded to a fire at the Parkland Library in Spanaway. Employees stated a female subject had lit her jacket on fire in the bathroom because she was “mad at life”. The fire got out of control, and she was worried about the people in the building, so she pulled the fire alarm. The library was evacuated, and an employee put the fire out with a fire extinguisher. The female suspect who had set the fire admitted to the crime and called 911 on herself. The 31-year-old female was taken into custody for Arson to a Business and Endangering Life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Be safe Pierce County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
