An unsettling situation occurred on March 18th<\/sup> around 3:30pm when managers at a local fast food chain call to report a gun had been located in an employee’s backpack.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prior to deputies arriving, someone had told the managers an employee was currently there with a gun and was planning on shooting another employee. When managers searched the backpack, they did find a loaded gun with an extended magazine. When deputies arrived, the employee that had the gun in his backpack was trying to tell our deputies that juveniles came to him during his lunch break and told him to hold onto the gun and the juveniles put the gun in his backpack.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deputies reviewed surveillance and it was confirmed no juveniles put the gun in his backpack and that he had the gun in his bag all along. The male was arrested for an attempted assault in the 1st degree because there was evidence he had taken a substantial step by bringing the firearm to work where the victim was. He was also booked for possession of stolen firearm since the gun was listed stolen and a third charge for a gun violation and being in possession of a firearm under 21 years of age.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Great job to the managers who quickly reported to the police. This could have been a much worst situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
