We jumped into the weekend with some high call volumes and here are just a few highlights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
#1 \u2013 Pursuit and Arrest of Warrant Subject<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n On May 19th around 3:00am, our deputies recognized a male with a warrant for failure to register as a sex offender. When deputies attempted contact, the male fled in his truck with two passengers. Fortunately, stop sticks had popped the tires, and a pursuit was ended with a PIT maneuver, pinning the truck against a tree. A male and female passenger exited the truck and claimed they had wanted to be let out during the pursuit but were held against their will. The 48-year-old male suspect was taken into custody peacefully after a 40mm non-lethal beanbag shotgun was used to break the window. He was booked into the Pierce County Jail for kidnapping, unlawful possession of cocaine, eluding, and his criminal arrest warrants for failure to register as a sex offender. <\/p>\n\n\n\n #2 \u2013 Juvenile Vandalizes Two Police Vehicles<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n On May 17th<\/sup> around 5:00pm at our University Place Precinct, a 14-year-old female was reported vandalizing two parked police cars. Surveillance shows the juvenile jumping on the hood and tearing off the windshield wipers as well as using marker to tag the vehicles. When the deputy attempted an arrest, the juvenile bit and kicked the deputy. The 14-year-old female was transported to Remann Hall Juvenile Detention Center and booked for felony assault of a police officer and felony malicious mischief. <\/p>\n\n\n\n #3 \u2013 Shots Fired and Stolen Firearm Recovered<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n On May 17th<\/sup> around 4:30pm, several neighbors reported hearing gunshots from a home at the 17000 block of 6th<\/sup> Ave. Ct. E. When deputies arrived, they received permission from one of the residents to go into the back yard and see what was going on. Deputies immediately spotted four subjects and a male shove a gun into his back pocket. After further investigation, the suspect was 19-years-old and the gun had recently been reported stolen in a car theft case. The 19-year-old male was booked into the Pierce County Jail for possession of stolen firearm, carrying a prohibited weapon and a weapons discharge violation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n #4 \u2013 Explosion Investigation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n This last call came in on May 17th around 4:30am when security guards from a Frederickson business complex called to report a vehicle throwing explosives in the intersection of 180th St E and 50 Ave E. Surveillance captures a vehicle throwing something out the driver’s window and taking off before the explosion. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Bomb Squad responded to the scene. This investigation is ongoing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
