#1 Lassoed Suspect in Pond<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On June 14th around 3:30pm, neighbors reported a male with a chainsaw was chasing his father in a yard. When deputies arrived, they learned that the 32-year-old son had been involved in a verbal altercation and had begun threatening both of his parents with a chainsaw. Deputies attempted to de-escalate the male before he jumped into a nearby pond and refused to come out. Negotiations went on for about 40 minutes before deputies retrieved a 40 mm beanbag shotgun and a trusty lasso. Just as deputies exhausted all attempts to get the suspect out of the pond, a deputy was able to successfully lasso the male and drag him safely to shore. The 32-year-old male was transported to a local hospital for mental health services, and the family received resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
#2 Motor Vehicle Fatality of Passenger<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On June 14th, just before 12pm, in front of the Monterra Apartments at the 400 block of 112th St. E, deputies responded to a motor vehicle fatality. The 54-year-old female driver was taken to the hospital in critical condition, and her 65-year-old male passenger died while in route to the hospital. The female will be charged with vehicular homicide and is under investigation for DUI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
#3 Shoplifting Turns into Pursuit<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On June 15th around midnight, deputies were parked at the QFC located at 112th St. S and Pacific Ave. when they viewed a shoplift in progress as a store employee came out and pointed to a male that was getting into a car. Deputies attempted a traffic stop, but the suspect refused to stop, and a short pursuit began. The pursuit was ended with stop sticks and a PIT maneuver on Hwy 512. The suspect refused to put his hands up and was tasered and pepper sprayed. The 38-year-old male was booked for strong-arm robbery, eluding, resisting, and kidnapping because he had a female passenger that wanted out during the pursuit, and he refused to stop and let her out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
