#1 The Cutest Felony Stop Ever<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On October 29th, around 4:00pm, deputies were dispatched to the Safeway off 158th St. S and Pacific Ave. S for two shoplifters who threatened employees with a hatchet. When the suspects were contacted with a hatchet, one of them was holding a kitten during the felony stop, and the kitten ran to the deputy. Both suspects were detained while deputies spoke with the store employees. The 29-year-old male suspect who threatened the employees with a hatchet was arrested and booked for felony harassment, outstanding warrants, and the deputies provided him with a trespass notification. The other 44-year-old male was released at the scene and provided a trespass notification. The kitten found a new home after the suspect agreed it could be rehomed, and that he had found it in an alley. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
#2 U-Haul DUI Pursuit<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This call came in on Halloween night, around 1:00am (November 1st), when our graveyard deputies noticed a U-Haul truck parked on U-Haul property at 96th St. S and Pacific Ave. S. Multiple cars had been seen driving up to it and taking off quickly after a short interaction with the driver. There was reasonable suspicion to believe narcotics were being distributed or a crime was being committed, so deputies investigated. When they approached the male suspect sitting in the driver\u2019s seat, they could clearly see narcotics and an open alcohol container in the center console. \u00a0The driver refused to give his name and gave a wrong name in hopes the deputies would go away. They negotiated with him for several minutes and informed him he was not free to go with the drugs and open container. After several minutes, they attempted to extract him from the truck by breaking the window. The driver decided to flee, and there was probable cause for DUI. The truck was finally disabled near the Puyallup Fairgrounds, and the suspect gave up. It turns out this 31-year-old suspect originally did not want to identify himself since he had several felony warrants for ID theft and theft 1st degree. He was arrested and booked on new charges of possession of cocaine, possession of meth, obstructing and making false statements, DUI, eluding, and reckless endangerment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
