When you hear a siren or see flashing lights behind you, every second matters. Emergency vehicles, ambulances, fire trucks, and police are responding to someone\u2019s worst moment. Your actions can help them get there faster and safer. If an emergency vehicle is approaching from behind, check your surroundings, and safely pull over to the right.<\/strong> Come to a complete stop and stay there until it has passed. At intersections, don\u2019t panic and don\u2019t block the way. If you\u2019re already in the intersection, clear it safely, then pull over. Never stop in the middle of traffic. On multi-lane roads, all lanes must yield. Do not try to outrun or follow an emergency vehicle, it\u2019s dangerous and illegal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And remember: move over or slow down for emergency vehicles stopped on the roadside. First responders are working just feet away from traffic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
