On March 24th, around 1:00 am, a deputy observed a confirmed stolen vehicle at the 10800 block of Pacific Ave. S and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle fled a short distance before an observant deputy recognized its direction of travel and threw stop sticks just in time to disable the vehicle. The suspect driver knew the vehicle was disabled and quickly pulled over. Four occupants jump out of the moving vehicle and attempt to flee on foot. Two males were detained immediately, and the female passenger who ran off was shortly located hiding nearby and was taken into custody. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The male driver ended up jumping a 5-foot fence, and containment was set up to attempt to locate him. A deputy who was monitoring the perimeter area located a male walking towards him who matched the description of the driver. The male at first tries to play it off with the deputy; he wasn’t involved, but he is later confirmed to be the driver and is arrested after a short struggle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 19-year-old male was positively identified and arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle, taking a motor vehicle without permission, felony eluding, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.\u00a0The 17-year-old female passenger was arrested for taking a motor vehicle without permission and malicious mischief 2nd degree for kicking out the windows of a patrol car once she was detained. She was booked into Remann Hall Juvenile Detention Center. The other 39-year-old and 32-year-old male passengers were released on the scene since no probable cause was found for their arrest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
