#1 Pursuit Ends with PIT<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the early morning hours of July 25, just after 3:30 a.m., a deputy spotted a vehicle speeding near 127th St. S and C St. with no headlights and no license plates. When the deputy attempted a traffic stop, the driver fled, leading to a brief pursuit. Deputies safely brought the pursuit to an end using stop sticks followed by a Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) maneuver. A 27-year-old male driver and a 23-year-old male passenger were taken into custody. During the investigation, deputies observed a handgun in plain view inside the vehicle. The vehicle was seized pending the execution of a search warrant. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The driver is facing charges including: 
\u2022 Attempting to Elude 
\u2022 Driving While License Suspended 
\u2022 Felon in Possession of a Firearm <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Investigators determined there was no probable cause to arrest the passenger, and he was released at the scene. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

#2 Man Arrested After Chasing Woman with Knife<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On July 25, at approximately 8:00 a.m., deputies responded to reports of a man threatening people with a knife near 124th St. S and Pacific Ave. S in Parkland. Deputies learned the suspect had chased a woman along Pacific Ave. S while armed with a knife and threatened to kill her. Thankfully, she was able to escape and immediately called 911. Due to the nature of the incident, a large law enforcement response was coordinated. SWAT negotiators worked to de-escalate the situation, and the suspect was taken into custody peacefully without further incident. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 45-year-old man was booked into jail for: 
\u2022 Assault in the First Degree 
\u2022 Felony Harassment 
\u2022 Obstructing a Law Enforcement Officer <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deputies also identified a mental health component to the incident. The suspect will be evaluated for appropriate mental health resources as the case moves forward. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

#3 Street Racing Arrest<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just after 2:15 a.m. on July 27, deputies observed two vehicles racing side-by-side at high speeds on the off-ramp to Pacific Ave. S before continuing southbound near 112th St. S. As a deputy turned around to initiate a traffic stop, one of the vehicles sped through a red light and fled the area. The second vehicle was successfully stopped, and the driver was arrested for reckless driving related to street racing. In accordance with Washington’s street racing laws, the vehicle was impounded and placed on a mandatory 72-hour hold. The second vehicle involved in the race was not located. Street racing puts everyone on the road at risk. If you choose to race on public streets, you’re putting lives in danger, and deputies will continue to take enforcement action to keep our community safe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
