{"id":3273,"date":"2026-08-17T21:50:19","date_gmt":"2026-08-17T21:50:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.piercecountywa.gov\/pcsdblotter\/?p=3273"},"modified":"2026-08-17T21:50:20","modified_gmt":"2026-08-17T21:50:20","slug":"over-the-weekend-8-17-26","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.piercecountywa.gov\/pcsdblotter\/2026\/08\/17\/over-the-weekend-8-17-26\/","title":{"rendered":"Over the Weekend 8-17-26"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>#1 E-Bike Pursuit<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On August 13th around 2:30 am, deputies spotted an e-bike rider who was riding in the oncoming lanes, with no lights on, at 102nd St S and Steele St S. Deputies attempted a traffic stop due to the dangers of riding in oncoming lanes and having no lights. Still, this rider did not want to stop. It was made known to the rider to stop several times, and the pursuit continued southbound on Hosmer St. S to 96<sup>th<\/sup> St. S. The rider was finally caught at 92<sup>nd<\/sup> St. S, where the rider fled for a short foot pursuit before being captured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please know that riding an e-bike on the road with a helmet is legal, but you must still follow all traffic laws. The suspect was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit and booked into the Pierce County Jail for eluding and obstruction, and the e-bike was impounded. This otherwise would have just been a basic traffic stop. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>#2 Parkland Homicide Suspect Booked into the Pierce County Jail<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On August 14<sup>th,<\/sup> around 8:30 pm, detectives took custody of the Parkland Homicide suspect who had fled to Mexico and was recently taken into custody by the Mexican Authorities and the FBI on July 30<sup>th<\/sup>, 2026. The 21-year-old male was booked into the Pierce County Jail and will be facing arraignment for the murder of 17-year-old Braylon Diaz, which occurred on May 24th, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>#3 Reckless Burning Arrest<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On August 16<sup>th<\/sup> at 5:48 pm, deputies responded to several vehicles and surrounding brush on fire at the 1100 block of 108th St S in Parkland. Deputies learned a male had lit a cigarette and tossed a torch that was not fully extinguished into his car. Several vehicles had burned along with damage to electrical wires, surrounding structures, and landscape. The 55-year-old male was identified and placed under arrest for reckless burning in the second degree. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please know that as of today, August 17, 2026, a Stage 2 burn ban is now in effect for all unincorporated Pierce County.
