This morning, at 5:39 a.m., a passerby called 911 to report a vehicle collision on U.S. Forest Service Road 70 (FS-70), less than one mile east of SR-410 near Greenwater. The caller reported that the vehicle had gone off the road, was on fire, and that there was at least one deceased person inside the vehicle.
Foothills Detachment deputies responded to the scene and stood by while fire personnel extinguished the flames, which had spread to nearby vegetation.
Once the fire was out, deputies began their investigation. They located what they believe to be the remains of three people inside the vehicle.
Traffic investigators are working to determine the cause of the crash and to identify the victims.
