Shooting in Greenwater Ends with Pursuit into King County

At 10:15 pm, on Monday October 7th, our deputies in our Foothills Detachment responded to a shooting call in Greenwater off of 59705 St. Route 410. The caller said he was being pursued by the suspects in a muscle car and they had shot him.

Deputies went to meet with the victim as they drove from Bonney Lake towards Greenwater. The first deputy noticed a Dodge Charger or Challenger type vehicle driving past him and he radioed for the next deputies to try and stop that vehicle as he continued towards the victim’s location.

The next two deputies attempted to stop the Challenger and it took off at a high rate of speed. Deputies pursued the vehicle which turned north when it got back to Enumclaw. The vehicle lost control and rolled onto its roof in a ditch near 264th Ave SE and SE 416th St.

The occupants of the vehicle started crawling out and were uncooperative. One woman was not following directions to get on the ground and when deputies tried to detain her she resisted. Another woman was handcuffed and continued to slip her handcuffs several times until they could get a smaller pair of handcuffs on her.

A man in the vehicle was not responsive and had to be airlifted to the hospital. The woman who struggled with deputies was identified as the driver. The one cooperative woman and the other woman who slipped her cuffs were both transported to the hospital as a precaution. Deputies noted the occupants seemed intoxicated and they could smell an odor of intoxicants on them. The occupants were two 19-year-old women, a 22-year-old man, and the 20-year old female driver.

The victim advised he came into contact with the vehicle when he saw them pulled over on the side of the roadway. One of the women appeared sick so he asked if they were okay. All the occupants started cursing at him and told him to leave so he did. They then chased him and shot at him on SR410.

This case has been transferred to the Washington State Patrol for investigation. Thanks to our deputies these four suspects were not able to evade the law and will have to face accountability for chasing and shooting the victim.
