On February 2nd, a traffic deputy was conducting a speed emphasis at the 14700 block of Canyon Rd. and clocked a driver going 60 in a 45. What otherwise would have been a simple traffic stop turned into a lot more. The male subject refused to provide his driver’s license and continued to demand what crimes he committed. When told it was for speeding and was a civil infraction, he continued to argue for over 8 minutes and would not provide his license. Other units were called to the scene to take the man into custody for obstructing a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest. He was booked into the Pierce County Jail for obstructing and resisting arrest. A family member came and got the car.
On February 2nd around 10:30pm, deputies were patrolling the Safeway parking lot at the 15900 block of Pacific Ave when they spotted a male subject they recognized to have felony warrants for failure to appear and Assault 3. When deputies went into the Safeway to make contact, he denied his name being the subject they were looking for. Deputies confirmed it was him and attempted an arrest, which led to a short foot pursuit inside the store. It was put to an end with a tackle to the ground. The subject was transported to the Pierce County Jail for his warrants and additional charges of obstructing and resisting arrest.
Number three is a scary one. On February 2nd, an intoxicated male was reported by several people shooting off his gun randomly from inside his trailer. There were several bullet holes coming from the trailer and more bullet holes found in neighboring vehicles. He was taken into custody for reckless endangerment and unlawful discharge of a firearm. His guns were confiscated for safe keeping.
