Over the Weekend 2-24-25

It was a busy weekend again! Here are just a few calls our deputies responded to.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered and Suspect Arrested

On February 22, at around 5:00 am, deputies were dispatched to a motor vehicle theft from the 10400 block of Ainsworth Ave. S. After gathering information from the victim, deputies were able to locate the vehicle, with the windows fogged up, a short time later. A 20-year-old male suspect was found sleeping inside the stolen car. He was arrested, and when deputies searched the male suspect, court documents were located in his pocket regarding a previous arrest he was involved in for motor vehicle theft earlier in the month. The deputies booked him AGAIN for possession of stolen property.

Arson Suspect Arrested

On February 22, at 3:59 pm, deputies were dispatched to an arson call located at the 800 block of 173rd St S. A male victim reported his vehicle was on fire. When deputies arrived, the car fire had been put out, and the victim stated his son had lit the vehicle on fire and left on foot. The suspect was not located at the time. Later in the day, a shoplifting call came out at the 17500 block of Pacific Ave S at a 7-Eleven. The description of the shoplifting suspect also matched the arson suspect. When deputies arrived, they took the 29-year-old male into custody for arson and shoplifting.

Walmart Burglary Suspect Arrested

On February 23, our deputies were working security emphasis at the Spanaway Walmart located off Mountain Hwy E when they were notified of a shoplift in progress. The male suspect was seen stuffing items in his pants and walking out the doors. Deputies took the 41-year-old male into custody. During a search of his person, a Hyper Tough 12-volt power drill with an additional “50 piece” toolset had been located in his pants. He admitted to the officer he had stolen the items to resell them. He was arrested for burglary in the second degree. Why burglary and not shoplifting? This suspect had already been trespassed from other Walmart stores. When you violate a trespass order, it becomes a felony burglary charge.

Have a great weekend and be safe.
