Boat Rescue Saves Two Adults and Two Children

On July 2nd, our deputies and Marine Services Unit were dispatched to search Alder Lake for a missing child that had gone fishing with a friend and his grandparents. They were only supposed to be gone for a couple of hours. Unfortunately, the boat never returned when it was supposed to, and a mother’s worst nightmare came true.

Deputies searched the shoreline and got boats in the water to look for the missing boat and passengers. A helicopter was called out, and the whole lake was searched with no luck. It was early hours in the morning the following day when one of our Marine Services deputies decided to go up the Little Nisqually River that feeds into Alder Lake. The boat was finally located in a narrow canyon of the Little Nisqually River with a broken-down motor. The mother in this case visited our precinct with her son to say thank you and bring the deputies a special cake thanking them for finding her son.

We are thankful this search and rescue mission had a happy ending. Thank you, Sarah and Hunter, for stopping by and delivering a beautiful cake you made. We are glad you are safe!
