On January 13th at 9:17 am, South Sound 911 Dispatch received a text to 911 stating a male subject violated a protection order, and they were unable to call 911 safely. Deputies arrived at the Ellyson Apartments located at the 2100 block of 104th St. S to investigate the violation and ensure the reporting party was safe. They quickly confirmed the male half had a domestic violence no-contact order in place with the female half and established probable cause to arrest the suspect.
When deputies contacted the male in the apartment, he immediately became uncooperative. The suspect attempts to grab the deputy’s gun several times, and a long struggle takes place.
The suspect ends up jumping from the third-floor balcony to escape arrest, but is unable to move from the fall and is taken into custody by other deputies. The suspect sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office requested that this investigation be taken over by the Tacoma Police Department, and the investigation is ongoing.
