#1 Caught in the Mud, Pursuit Leads to Arrest
On March 7th, around 11:40pm, our graveyard Sergeant observed a motorcycle traveling 65-mph in a 35-mph zone. What would have been a routine traffic stop led to a pursuit. The pursuit continued on Vickory Ave until the driver pulled into a driveway and attempted to flee on foot. A short foot pursuit ends quickly with the suspect getting tased and taken into custody. The 39-year-old male suspect was found in possession of a revolver that had previously been listed as stolen. He was booked into jail for eluding, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of stolen property, driving while his license was suspended, and obstructing a law enforcement officer. He also had a no-bail department of corrections warrant.
#2 Homicide at the Monterra Apartments in Parkland
On March 7th at 9:03am, deputies responded to a shooting at the Monterra Apartment complex in Parkland. Upon arrival, they located a male with a gunshot wound. Bystanders and deputies attempted life-saving measures, but he sadly died at the scene. The suspect fled the scene, and no one is in custody at this time. This investigation is very active.
#3 Pokémon Card Burglary
On March 7th, around 6:30 a.m., deputies were called to a burglary that had occurred within the last 30 minutes at Next Level The Gamers Den in Graham. Two suspects can be seen on surveillance breaking a front window and crawling through. They proceed to the front counter, where they steal hundreds of Pokémon booster packs before fleeing the store. We are asking anyone who may have information on these suspects or the vehicle involved to call us. This is an active investigation.
