MC Rider Rear Ends Sergeant and Drops a Gun

At 2:08 pm, on Monday September 16th, one of our Sergeants was driving at the 13900 block of Pacific Ave when he was rear ended by a motorcycle. The sergeant turned on his lights and got out to check on the rider. Next to the rider was a pistol inside of a holster. The rider said it was his firearm, but he did not have a permit.

In addition the rider was only 19-years-old and cannot legally possess a firearm. A witness advised the motorcycle rider was splitting lanes and driving at a high rate of speed before he collided into the back of the unmarked police vehicle.

Please don’t be like this fellow. You need a license and motorcycle endorsement, you have to be 21 to carry a handgun in public (unless with an adult or at a range), you have to have a concealed carry permit to carry a gun concealed and lastly please don’t split lanes on a motorcycle. It’s illegal in Washington State and most driver’s won’t be expecting this so it makes it even more dangerous.

Stay safe out there Pierce County!
