Pierce County Detectives were able to identify the suspect involved in the homicide at a gas station at 17400 Pacific Ave S. Detectives were able to identify the man through their thorough investigation and tips from deputies in the field. The community assisted in providing information that confirmed the detectives had the right suspect in mind.
Once the suspect had been identified detectives located him already in custody at the Pierce County Jail on unrelated charges. Detectives added charges to the suspect for Murder in the 2nd Degree, 3 counts of Assault in the 1st Degree and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm in the 1st Degree.

Bystander Killed in Spanaway Shooting

At 08:50 pm, on Thursday May 26 our dispatchers at South Sound 911 received a call of a woman who had been shot at the gas station at 17400 Pacific Ave S. Deputies responded to the scene and immediately rendered first aid to the woman. Central Pierce Fire and Rescue transported the woman to the hospital, but unfortunately she passed away.
Detectives and forensic investigators were called out to the scene to collect evidence and talk to witnesses. At this time we have information that two vehicles were involved in an altercation. A male from one vehicle shot at the other vehicle. The gunfire struck the uninvolved woman and another uninvolved vehicle at the gas station before both of the vehicles sped away.
