Fatal Hit & Run
12900 blk Valley Ave E, Puyallup/Sumner
Deputies were dispatched to a vehicle versus pedestrian fatality collision where the driver fled. A traffic investigator responded to document the scene, gather evidence and talk to witnesses. The victim, who is in his 30’s, was seen walking on the side of the road shortly before the collision. The investigator is working with neighbors in the area to obtain surveillance video of the incident. There are no suspects at this time and the investigation is ongoing.

Weapons Violation, Warrant
15800 blk 84th Ave E, South Hill
A patrol deputy spotted a parked vehicle that was partially blocking the roadway and he noticed that it didn’t have any license plates. Backup arrived and the deputies contacted the vehicle’s two occupants. The deputies could see drug paraphernalia inside the car. The driver was nervous and began reaching around inside the vehicle. One of the deputies immediately recognized the driver and knew that he is a convicted felon and had three felony warrants for unlawful possession of a firearm. The driver admitted to deputies that he had a gun in his waistband. He was arrested and booked into jail for his warrants as well as a new charged of unlawful possession of a firearm. Deputies served a search warrant on the vehicle and located an assortment of pills, some of which deputies believe to be laced with fentanyl. Many of the pills were pre-packaged and ready for sale on the street. Additional charges may be added by the prosecutor.

Theft
100 blk Military Rd E, Parkland/Spanaway
A hardware store’s loss prevention officer filed an online report regarding a shoplifting incident. While conducting routine surveillance, she witnessed a man load a lawnmower onto a flat cart and then grab some drill bits before walking out of the store without paying. Deputies will work with the store to obtain video surveillance and attempt to identify the suspect.

DUI arrest
SR 162 & Pioneer Way E, Puyallup
A patrol deputy noticed that the driver in front of him appeared to be impaired. The driver crossed the centerline and almost hit an oncoming vehicle before overcorrecting and almost going off the road. He then nearly rear-ended the car in front of him. The deputy conducted a traffic stop, but the driver didn’t immediately pull over. Once he did stop, the deputy contacted him and observed that the driver was clearly intoxicated. He failed to follow instructions or provide the requested documents. He announced that he had and gun and told the deputy to leave him alone. Backup arrived and deputies took the driver into custody. He did indeed have a firearm on the driver’s side floorboard. The 48-year-old suspect was taken to the hospital for a blood draw and then booked into jail for DUI.

Shots Fired
14100 blk Pacific Ave S, Parkland
Deputies were dispatched to a bar parking lot for a report of shots fired. The suspect had been seen running northbound firing a gun at a car that was also driving northbound. Deputies checked the area but were unable to locate the suspect or the vehicle. No victims called 911 to report being shot at. Casings were located on the sidewalk and were booked into evidence.
