On Jan. 31, at 12:43 a.m., a Mountain Detachment deputy stopped a vehicle at Mountain Hwy E and 304th St E because the driver ran a red light and had an unsecured box on the roof.
When the deputy contacted the driver, he noticed a firearm wedged between the front seats.
The 35-year-old driver is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing firearms.
When the deputy conducted a records check, he learned that the firearm had been reported stolen in Clallam County.
The driver was booked into jail, and prosecutors charged him with unlawful possession of a firearm in the first degree. Bail was set at $15,000.
