DUI Collision, Obstructing
S Prairie Rd E & 204th Ave E, Bonney Lake
A retired police officer called 911 to report that she was behind a possible DUI driver. The vehicle ended up rear-ending another car at S Prairie Rd E and 204th Ave E. When deputies arrived, they noticed signs of impairment, and the 53-year-old female driver was arrested. Her 5-year-old granddaughter was in the back seat of her vehicle and was uninjured. The suspect was transported to the hospital for a blood draw and was uncooperative most of the time. She initially slipped out of her cuffs and had to be re-handcuffed. At the hospital, she refused numerous times to cooperate with the court-ordered blood draw. She told the deputy she was a nurse and alluded to the fact that she knew she had to be medically cleared before she could go to jail. She requested many tests and procedures, likely hoping the deputy would give up his efforts to book her and release her at the hospital instead. Once she was medically cleared, she was booked into jail for DUI, reckless endangerment, and obstructing.

Vehicular Assault
2800 blk E Bay Dr NW, Gig Harbor
A patrol deputy was dispatched to a single-vehicle rollover collision with possible passenger ejection. When he arrived, medics told him that a 3-year-old boy had been ejected and was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. According to the 34-year-old driver, she was heading home from a Super Bowl party and didn’t remember what led up to the crash. All she remembered was that the vehicle rolled over, her son was ejected, and she found him in the middle of the road. She claimed that her son had been properly secured in his car seat. The deputy observed signs of impairment when speaking with the driver, so she was arrested and transported to the hospital for a blood draw. She was then booked into jail for vehicular assault.
