On Monday, May 15, some of our department members kicked off National Police Week by attending the 42nd Annual Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington D.C.
Thousands of law enforcement officers and family members gathered to honor all of our fallen police officers. The event started with prayers, music and guest speakers, and then we individually honored each of the fallen by reading their names and placing a flower in one of two wreaths at the front of the stage.
Our department escorted the families of Deputies Dom Calata and Daryl Shuey.
This year is a reminder, just like every year, that freedom isn’t free. It is an honor to pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their communities.
