On April 23rd at 10:36pm, residents called to report hearing 20-30 gunshots at the 17400 block of 17th Ave. E and then seeing a male laying in the middle of the cul-de-sac. Residents in the area went to go check on the male but he was pronounced deceased. When deputies arrived, they found the cul-de-sac littered with shell casings. Nearby homes and vehicles had also been struck with gunfire but no one else was hurt.
At this time, our detectives and forensics are on the scene, and the male has not been identified. He appears to be a young adult approximately 18-20 years old. It is unknown who shot him, and we do not have anyone in custody. The medical examiner has taken custody of the deceased male. This will remain an active investigation, and we hope to update you as more information is available.
