We unfortunately had a couple fatal vehicle collisions over the weekend and our traffic deputies kept very busy. Here are just a couple calls from this weekend.
#1 Single Car Motor Vehicle Fatality Collision
On July 25th around 11:15pm, deputies responded to a single-vehicle collision into a guardrail at the 15800 block of Forest Canyon Rd near Lake Tapps. When deputies arrived, the 42-year-old female was pronounced deceased. It appeared the vehicle had left the roadway at a high rate of speed and struck the guardrail. Our traffic investigators are investigating the cause of this accident.
#2 Car vs. Pedestrian Collision with Fatality
On July 26th around 1:15am, a caller reported she had hit someone that was sitting in the middle of the road at Lake Dr. SW and 188th Ave. SW. The caller and a passerby attempted life-saving measures until Fire personnel took over the scene and provided CPR to the victim. Sadly, the adult male succumbed to his injuries and died on the scene. He was not able to be identified, due to no identification on him, but he appears to be in his mid-30s. He was transferred to the medical examiner. The female driver that hit him was coming home from work and showed no signs of impairment. She remained on the scene and was fully cooperative with the investigation. There are no streetlights on this road, and the victim was wearing all dark clothing while sitting in her lane of travel.
Both fatalities are a loss to our community and our thoughts go out to the families. Drive safe, drive sober, and drive alert so we can prevent future accidents from happening.
