We had many gun violence calls over the weekend. We responded to three separate shooting calls that produced two different shooting victims. We also had our homicide self-defense case from the homeowner protecting his family from an intruder. We continue to stay busy keeping the community and streets safe. Take a look at two other pursuit cases we handled.
Pursuit and Arrest of Drug Dealer
On September 12th around 3:00am, deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of 112th St. S and Steele St. with no license plates. They quickly recognized there was more going on than just no license plates. They established probable cause that the driver was DUI with drug paraphernalia in plain view, in addition to having outstanding felony warrants. The suspect fled the traffic stop. The pursuit of the suspect vehicle dangerously brake-checking the deputies finally ended peacefully when the 44-year-old male suspect abruptly pulled over and complied with commands.
A search warrant of the vehicle revealed 587 Xanax pills, baggies, scales, and 27 grams of cocaine. The suspect was arrested for DUI, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, obstructing, eluding, unlawful possession of a weapon (brass knuckles were found in his pocket), unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, and his other felony warrants.
14-year-old Eludes Deputies in Stolen Car
This second call was another pursuit and arrest of a 14-year-old male that had just stolen a car. Deputies attempted a traffic stop in the area of 108th St. S and Pacific Ave. S when the suspect eluded. The suspect ditches the car at 108th St. S and Ainsworth, and a foot pursuit begins. The male suspect was quickly taken into custody. The vehicle’s passenger window had been smashed, and there was significant damage to the ignition. The 14-year-old male was taken into custody and booked into Remann Hall Juvenile Detention Center for possession of a stolen vehicle and eluding.
