“A” for Effort

When we respond to welfare checks, we never know what we’re up against. In this case, the deputy attempts to learn and speak Russian to help a woman who was stuck in her bedroom. I say we give him an “A” for his effort.

On September 3rd around 1pm, deputies responded to a home for a welfare check. Family members stated their mother was not answering her phone or responding to the door. Deputies could see an open window on the second story and found a ladder to climb up. The deputy could hear the woman from inside but could not understand what she was saying. He soon finds out she had fallen and had been stuck for almost 24 hours. He immediately climbs through the window to help her. The 72-year-old woman had been stuck for approximately 24 hours. Fire immediately provided medical attention, and she was taken to a local hospital for further care.

These deputies showed significant compassion and courage to save this woman and get her immediate help. I think this deputy has a future in learning Russian. Not too bad.
