27 Dogs Seized in Deplorable Conditions

We recently had another large animal seizure of 27 dogs. This is another good reminder to ask for help with your animals when things get out of control.

Pierce County Animal Control received an online complaint for a home in the Midland area of the 3400 block of 52nd St. E stating the smell and amount of dogs and puppies barking nonstop was out of control. The complaint also stated the property was filled with garbage and overgrown bushes. On September 15th, Animal Control Officers responded to conduct a welfare check at the property and discovered 27 dogs living in small rooms in small cages in the home. The dogs were in deplorable conditions, which were unsanitary and filled with urine and feces. Animal Control seized all 27 dogs with a warrant. Two recently deceased dogs were also located. The 27 dogs were transported to a local veterinary hospital for care and were later turned over to the Tacoma Humane Society. Criminal charges will be forwarded to a prosecutor for review for animal cruelty and confinement of animals in an unsafe manner.

Please know that in Pierce County, you are allowed to have up to five dogs and/or cats combined. If you are to have more than 5 of these types of animals, you need to apply for a kennel license.
