#1 Tree Falls, Killing 31-Year-Old Male
On October 25th, at approximately 1:02 p.m., multiple 911 callers reported that a large tree had fallen onto approximately six to eight pop-up tents at the McKenna Park Trick-or-Treat Community Event. Several attendees had been standing beneath the tents when the tree came down. A 31-year-old male was struck by the falling tree and pronounced deceased at the scene. Six additional individuals sustained injuries ranging from broken bones, lacerations, and head injuries to minor bruises. Upon arrival, fire crews found multiple victims trapped beneath the fallen tree and tents and initiated extrication efforts. Three patients were transported to local hospitals with serious injuries, while three others were treated on scene for less severe conditions.
#2 Stolen Motorcycle Arrest
On October 27th at approximately 12:30 a.m., deputies contacted a man who was pushing a motorcycle near 130th Street South and Pacific Avenue South. Deputies stopped to see if the man needed assistance. The motorcycle had no license plates, no keys, and appeared to have been recently spray-painted. A check of the vehicle identification number (VIN) revealed the motorcycle had been reported stolen out of Pierce County. The23-year-old male was taken into custody. During a search, deputies located several shaved keys in his pockets. He was booked into the Pierce County Jail for possession of stolen property and on outstanding felony warrants.
#3 Motor Vehicle Fatality in Graham
On October 26th, at approximately 10:00 p.m., a 42-year-old woman was involved in a fatal crash after striking a light pole near 84th Ave. E and 224th St. E. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. Witnesses reported that the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed, and there were no indications of braking prior to the collision. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and it is possible that a medical emergency may have been a contributing factor.
