Seizure of 100+ Cats

A tip was recently received about 100+ cats living in a home in the city of Buckley with three adults in deplorable conditions.

When Buckley PD investigated, it was determined that the conditions were unsafe for both humans and animals.

Pierce County Animal Control was called to assist with the seizure, and a warrant was approved. All cats were removed from the home. Each cat was

crated, photographed, documented, and evaluated for health. Many of the cats are suffering from a variety of health conditions, and several were transported immediately to a center for medical treatment. This investigation will be ongoing, and when the investigation is finished, it will be forwarded to a prosecutor for review and possible charges.

We understand many of our community members may want to help with adoption and donations. At this time, all animals are being evaluated and will be distributed to local cat rescues, shelters, or humane societies. No single location has the resources or occupancy to take all 100 cats.

More information will be posted in the near future regarding when and where you can inquire about this case and/or the adoption of these cats. Currently, the Buckley Police Department is asking for donations of small animal crates. All donated crates can be dropped off at the Buckley Police Station during business hours.
