According to the father, he woke up when he saw a light shining into his bedroom and heard his dogs barking. He went outside and saw a man standing in front of his house. The man pulled out a gun and told the victim that he was going to shoot his dogs if he didn’t calm them down. The man pointed the gun at the victim and chambered a round. The victim ran inside to call 911. The 27-year-old suspect was arrested and booked into jail for assault in the first degree and resisting arrest.

Theft
10400 blk 156th St E, South Hill

Employees of a shoe store filed online theft reports for two shoplifting incidents that occurred back-to-back. During the first incident, a man and a woman walked into the store carrying a large bag. The woman was distracting an employee by asking product questions while the man was on video chat with another woman. He was walking down the aisle of Nike shoes and the woman was telling him shoe sizes to select. The pair grabbed several pairs of sneakers and ran out of the store. Approximately 30 minutes later, a man entered the store and was greeted by employees. They asked if they could help him find anything and he responded, “whatever.” He grabbed four boxes of sneakers and ran out of the store.

A patrol deputy was at our South Hill precinct when he heard an extremely loud muffler noise that didn’t seem to be coming from passing traffic. When the driver spotted the deputy, he quickly pulled into a parking spot. The deputy turned on his emergency lights and contacted the driver. The 20-year-old was issued a criminal citation for reckless driving.

Armed Carjacking
400 blk 144th St S, Parkland

Deputies were dispatched to an attempted carjacking that had just occurred at an apartment complex across the street from our Parkland-Spanaway precinct. Deputies searched the area for suspects while other deputies responded to the scene to speak with the victim and witnesses. The victim, a 64-year-old woman, told deputies that she was unloading the trunk of her car when two suspects held her at gunpoint and demanded her car keys. The victim screamed and several neighbors came outside to help. The suspects ran and the neighbors chased after them. Deputies arrested one of the suspects at Sprinker Rec Center. The other suspect ran into a house, but quickly came back outside and was arrested. The house turned out to be the suspect’s grandmother’s house. Deputies obtained a search warrant and found a gun hidden under the grandmother’s mattress. The suspects, 17 and 20, were booked for robbery in the first degree.
