Last night we had a Deputy Involved Shooting at 192nd St Ct E and 82nd Ave E in Puyallup, All Deputies are uninjured, suspect was injured and transported to the hospital with minor injuries before being booked into the Pierce County Jail early this morning.
At 9:08 pm, on Tuesday December 19th, our deputies responded to a call of a suspect in a pickup truck driving down the middle of Canyon Rd near 176th St E firing a rifle out his window. A caller had been following the vehicle and deputies located it in the neighborhood off of 192nd St E and 82nd Ave E.
At 9:20 pm, deputies said over the radio the vehicle was driving towards the main entrance and then at 9:21 pm, they called out shots fired. They advised the suspect had fired at them and then they announced shots fired again over the radio.
Deputies made announcements and ordered the suspect to surrender. He complied, got out of his vehicle and was taken into custody. The suspect has been transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The Pierce County Force Investigation Team has been called out to assist with the investigation of the shooting.
This is the 4th shooting in 5 weeks where a deputy fired shots. It is the 5th incident where shots have been fired by suspects or deputies in 5 weeks.
