Residential Burglary, Vehicle Theft
6300 blk Summerwood Dr E, South Hill
Incident # 24-273-00283
A deputy was dispatched to a residential burglary that had just occurred. When he arrived, the victims showed him video footage of the suspect stealing their truck. The deputy notified dispatch of the suspect’s description and the description of the stolen truck so that other deputies could keep an eye out for them. The victims said their home alarm woke them up and they ran outside as the suspect was driving away in their truck. It appears that the suspect entered another vehicle and used the garage door opener. He then opened the door between the garage and the house, which is what set off the house alarm. He grabbed the keys to the truck, which were hanging inside the door and took off in the vehicle. The victim located his Harley Davidson motorcycle down the street. It had been parked in the victim’s garage and the suspect likely pushed it down the street before going back for the truck. It is unknown if another suspect was involved. Deputies are working with neighbors to obtain additional surveillance video.

96th St S & Steele St S, Parkland
Incident # 24-273-02233
A patrol deputy was at the intersection of Yakima Ave S and 96th St S and watched a Honda Accord approach the intersection. The Honda ran the red light and nearly hit another vehicle. The deputy initiated a traffic stop, but the vehicle sped away. The Honda drove recklessly, passing vehicles in the turn lane and cutting off drivers. The car pulled into a parking lot in the 9000 block of S Hosmer St. The Honda was stopped, with nowhere to go, so the deputy pulled his bumper up to it and got out of his car, with his gun drawn, and started giving commands. The suspect put the Honda in reverse and scraped up against the deputy’s push bar. The driver gave up and was taken into custody. He was transported to the hospital to be medically cleared. At the hospital, the 22-year-old suspect was uncooperative and kept trying to move his handcuffs to the front. At one point, the deputy was struggling on the ground with the suspect and the suspect repeatedly punched the deputy in the knee. Lakewood officers responded and assisted with controlling the suspect. He was booked into jail for: assault in the third degree, eluding, driving while suspended, reckless driving and obstructing.
