Over the Weekend 9-2-25

Deputies responded to calls back-to-back all weekend. Here are a few highlights.

#1 Pursuit of Robbery Suspect and Stolen Vehicle

On August 31st around 12pm, one of our deputies located a stolen vehicle that had been taken in a robbery. A gun had also been stolen inside the car. The driver was suspected to be armed and dangerous. The deputy attempted a traffic stop, and a pursuit led eastbound on Hwy 512. The vehicle was unable to negotiate a curve at speeds exceeding 100 mph and crashed into the barrier, rolling several times before coming to a rest. The 18-year-old male driver and only occupant was quickly cooperative and removed from the vehicle. The stolen firearm was located underneath him where he was sitting. The suspect had to go to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries from the collision, but charges will be forwarded to a prosecutor for unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen vehicle, and possession of the stolen firearm. He will also be facing several other felony crimes pending the conclusion of the investigation and previous robbery.

#2 Lewd Conduct Arrest

This second call is unsettling when a 30-year-old female calls 911 to report she was being followed by a male subject she did not know when she was walking her dog near the Willows Apartments in Parkland. The female victim reported the male was walking aimlessly in the parking lot and even changed his direction of travel when he saw her. He followed her to her apartment after she quickly got inside to lock the door. The male attempted to pry the door open with a tool while she called 911. Deputies arrived and found the male exposing himself outside. The 19-year-old male was arrested and booked into the Pierce County Jail for attempted residential burglary and indecent exposure.

#3 Drowning at Lake Tapps

We sadly had another drowning this weekend on August 30th at Lake Tapps when a 55-year-old male was in the swimming area. Family members recognized he needed help and pulled him from the water with several other bystanders. Family members and deputies on scene attempted life saving measures until Fire arrived. Fire continued life saving measures but were unfortunately unable to revive him.

#4 Reckless Driver Arrest

This last call is a reckless driver that was driving over 100 mph because he was “just trying to get home.” On September 1st around 2:30am, deputies spotted a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. They attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle made several quick turns in an attempt to get away and led them on a short pursuit before the 26-year-old male driver made a good decision to give up and pull over. The male did not have a license and was booked into the jail for eluding.
