#1 Boat Crashes into Tree
On February 27th, around 6:45 a.m., a passerby called 911 to report a boat that appeared to have crashed onto shore and struck a large tree near Narrows Park in Gig Harbor. When paramedics arrived, they located a 54-year-old male inside the boat who sustained non-life-threatening injuries but still needed to be transported to a local hospital. It appears the boat had been traveling at a high rate of speed during the early hours of the morning, at high tide, when it crashed into the tree.
#2 Canyon Road Hit and Run
On March 2nd, around 6:00am, a call came out for a hit and run collision on Canyon Rd and 184th St. E. Multiple witnesses reported the causing driver had fled on foot northbound on Canyon after his car would no longer work. While deputies were en route to the collision, they located a male matching the description of the driver at 84th Ave. E and 176th St. E. Deputies confirmed he was the driver who fled and found the keys to the vehicle in his pocket. There were no major injuries reported by the occupants of the vehicle he hit. The 44-year-old male was booked for felony hit and run, a suspended license, and other warrants.
#3 Canyon Road Semi vs Sedan Collision
On March 2nd, around 5:30am, a call came out when a semi-truck and a sedan collided on Canyon at 146th St. E. It was learned that the sedan was attempting to lane change in front of the semi-truck and clipped the front, causing it to flip over and crash off the road. Both occupants of the sedan were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. There were no injuries to the semi-truck driver and no signs of impairment for either party.
