Over the Weekend 5-18-26

#1 Vehicle Prowl Heist at Apartment Complex

On May 16th, around 4:35am, a deputy was dispatched to the Garfield Station Apartments, near Pacific Lutheran University in the Parkland area, regarding several vehicles with broken windows and reports of a group of unknown prowlers. Residents were frustrated since this was the second time several vehicles had been hit in a two-day period. A total of 14 vehicles had smashed out windows and appeared to have been rummaged through. Surveillance video captures a white sedan pulling into the parking lot around 3:09am. You can see four individuals get out of the vehicle. Two subjects begin prowling cars while the other two subjects remain as lookouts. The vehicle, clothing of the subjects, hair styles, and the particular way one of the subjects walks are all key identifiers the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office is asking community members to pay attention to in hopes these suspects can be identified. If you recognize any of these suspects or know anything about this incident, please call our office.

#2 Thousand Dollar Gas

On May 17th, just before midnight, a deputy was dispatched to the 4500 block of 225th St Ct E in Spanaway for an attempted gas theft that had just been interrupted. A hole could be seen punched in the gas tank, and plastic containers filled with fuel were left behind by the suspect. We understand gas prices are high right now, and these types of crimes can cost a victim thousands of dollars in damages. We encourage people to park in garages, fenced areas, or park in well-lit parking lots with surveillance cameras to deter from these types of crimes.
