Armed Robbery, Pursuit
20200 blk Mountain Hwy E, Spanaway
Deputies were dispatched to an armed robbery that had just occurred at a video game store. A suspect in a ski mask had robbed the clerk at gunpoint and fled in a vehicle. Deputies spotted that vehicle driving northbound in the 16000 block of Pacific Ave S. It was already driving recklessly, so deputies attempted a traffic stop right away. The vehicle fled and, since armed robbery is a pursuable offense, deputies chased after it. A deputy conducted a PIT maneuver on SR-512 and pinned the suspect’s vehicle against the front of a transit bus. It appeared that the suspect was going to make a run for it on foot, but deputies reacted quickly and took him into custody. The 24-year-old suspect was arrested and booked into jail for robbery in the first degree, possession of a stolen vehicle, eluding and resisting arrest.

DUI Arrest
5th Ave E & 112th St E, Parkland
A deputy was driving northbound on Pacific Ave S when he noticed a black Mercedes that was swerving across the road and wasn’t maintaining a steady speed. The vehicle turned onto 112th St E and the deputy initiated a traffic stop for impaired driving. When the driver rolled down the window, the deputy immediately smelled alcohol. The deputy asked the driver to turn off the car, which he did. Moments later, the car started rolling backwards towards the deputy’s patrol car, so the deputy told him to hit the brake. He then had to remind the driver to put the car in park. The driver admitted to drinking and was arrested and booked into jail for DUI. A records check revealed that the 35-year-old driver has a prior conviction for vehicular assault (a DUI-related offense).
