Early this morning, at 1:56 a.m., patrol deputies spotted an occupied stolen vehicle in the Farrelli’s parking lot at the corner of Garfield St S and Pacific Ave Sin Parkland. When deputies turned around to contact the driver, the vehicle, a green Chevy Tahoe, backed out of its parking spot. Deputies initiated a traffic stop by turning on their lights and siren, but the driver did not stop. The vehicle turned westbound onto 122nd St S and rapidly accelerated, so deputies pursued it.
During the pursuit, the driver brake-checked deputies twice. During the second brake-check, the vehicle’s occupants fired multiple rounds at deputies. The deputies were not struck by the gunfire.
Additional deputies, officers and troopers joined the pursuit. The vehicle collided with a guardrail in the 9700 block of Yakima Ave S and both occupants fled on foot. One suspect was quickly apprehended, and a K9 track was initiated to search for the second suspect.
During the track, a nearby resident called 911 to report that someone was sleeping in his vehicle. Deputies responded to the location and found the suspect hiding in a pickup truck. He was taken into custody.
Since the suspects were involved in a collision, they were evaluated at the hospital before they were booked into jail. The 43-year-old and 27-year-old suspects were booked for attempted murder, drive-by shooting and possession of a stolen vehicle. The driver was also booked for eluding.
Deputies located several firearms, spent casings, gun parts, and methamphetamine.
Deputies towed the vehicle and will apply for a search warrant.
