Officer Involved Shooting With Suspect Outstanding

On May 3rd, around 2:00am, a deputy located a male slumped over in a vehicle at 72nd St. E and 9th Ave. Ct. E. The male was identified as a subject with multiple felony warrants, including assault 2nd degree, eluding, and escape from community custody.

While the subject was slumped over in the vehicle, deputies positioned their vehicles in a manner to prevent escape. The subject awoke and began ramming vehicles. The suspect vehicle was able to ram an escape route with his vehicle, with deflated tires and drove at a deputy.

Shots were reported to have been fired. No deputies were hit by the gunfire, and the suspect continued to flee. A few minutes later, the suspect vehicle was located, crashed, running, and abandoned at a resident’s home at the 900 block of 85th St. E. Multiple calls came in from nearby residences stating a male had shown up on their property asking for help and appeared to have blood on him.

We’ve had multiple residents report a male with blood, matching the description of our suspect, who had broken into their homes and left after being confronted. An extensive K9 track with drones was conducted. After 3 ½ hours of negative results, we have been unable to locate the suspect.

The scene remains active, and we are encouraging everyone in the area to keep their doors and vehicles locked. There is evidence that the suspect is unlawfully attempting to enter people’s vehicles and homes.

The Pierce County Force Investigation Team will be taking over this investigation per standard protocol with any officer involved shooting.

Please call 911 if you see anyone who may be suspicious or related to this incident.
