I’m Faster Than You!

Our deputies are fast. But when you get the sergeant on your heels, you should probably just give up.

Around midnight on October 12, 2026, a sergeant was driving along 96th St. S when a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction at a high rate of speed began drifting into the center turn lane and towards oncoming traffic. Knowing the vehicle would likely hurt someone if not stopped, the sergeant pursued the reckless vehicle.

Another patrol car happened to be down the road from the fleeing vehicle and could see the reckless vehicle approaching at a high rate of speed in their side mirror. They quickly moved over a lane to avoid getting hit. They too attempt a traffic stop and pursue the vehicle. A few minutes later, the suspect vehicle fails to negotiate a turn and crashes through a fence into a business complex at the 9600 block of 40th Street SW. The suspect takes off on foot but quickly realizes the deputies are too fast. The 26-year-old male suspect was taken into custody for Felony Eluding, DUI, Reckless Driving, Assault in the 3rd Degree, and Resisting Arrest.

Alcohol containers and a shotgun with a drum magazine attached could be seen inside the pickup truck, and the vehicle was seized under a search warrant. At a later time, the warrant was approved for the pickup truck, and deputies found several loaded firearms. This remains an active investigation.
