PUYALLUP, WA — September 24, 2026 — On September 23, 2026, at approximately 11:00 a.m., Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a heavily wooded area in the 7700 block of 176th St. E. in the Frederickson area after receiving a report of human remains.
Deputies responded to the area and confirmed the remains were human. Pierce County Sheriff’s detectives and forensic personnel responded to the scene to begin the death investigation. A significant law enforcement presence remained in the area throughout the afternoon as investigators processed the scene and collected evidence.
Due to the advanced state of decomposition, the remains were not immediately identifiable.
The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office will work to determine the identity of the deceased and the cause and manner of death. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
