At 04:03 am, on Thursday September 1st, our deputies responded to a shooting call at a home in the 14600 block of 1st Ave S in Parkland. Two males attempted to gain entry into the residence on a side window of the house. The homeowner confronted them at the front door.
At that point, the homeowner fired shots at the males and one of the suspects pepper sprayed the homeowner. One of the suspects was severely injured and was transported to the hospital in critical condition. The other suspect ran away and it is unknown if he sustained any injuries. Neither suspect has been identified yet and were unknown to the home owner.
The homeowner was not arrested or charged with a crime. Detectives will continue to work on identifying both suspects as they face charges of attempted residential burglary and assault.
