Yesterday, a Pierce County jury convicted Michael Beauchamp, 59, of murdering Ginger Gover in 2018.
On Sept. 14, 2018, human remains were located at a construction site in the 14000 block of 94th Ave E in South Hill. The remains were discovered by construction workers as they were putting in a new roadway at the site.
Four days later, the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the remains as 41-year-old Ginger Gover, who had been missing since July 29, 2018. An autopsy revealed that Gover died from a single gunshot wound.
Our detectives worked extensively on this case through 2019, gathering evidence and locating and interviewing numerous witnesses.
On June 18, 2020, the Prosecutor’s Office charged Beauchamp with Gover’s murder. Beauchamp had been in custody since October 2018 when he was arrested for a Thurston County burglary and arson. Jurors agreed with prosecutors that Beauchamp killed Gover to prevent her from testifying against him in the burglary and arson case.
Beauchamp was convicted of aggravated murder in the first degree, murder in the second degree, assault in the first degree, and malicious mischief in the second degree. A sentencing hearing will take place on Aug. 18, 2023.
