At 2:45pm, on July 15, 2024, deputies attempted to make contact with a person of interest from a previous crime in a vehicle at the 25200 block of Mt. Highway E. Deputies attempted to use stop sticks, but the suspect fled in the vehicle.
While attempting to flee, deputies reported shots fired at 2:53pm and a Pierce County Sheriff Deputy was hit by the fleeing suspect’s vehicle and sustained minor injuries.
A pursuit began, and the vehicle fled eastbound on 260th St. E where it stopped at the 25900 block of 70th Ave. E. The suspect exited the vehicle and fled to a house nearby. At 2:57pm, deputies reported shots fired again. No deputies were seriously hurt and the suspect was declared deceased after life saving measures were attempted. The Pierce County Force Investigation Team will be taking over the investigation.
